Southern Capital Resources was formed in Birmingham, Alabama in 1989 and was one of the leading mortgage lenders in Central Alabama. In 2005, Southern Capital Resources was acquired by and became a division of ALIANT Bank, doing business as ALIANT Mortgage, to serve the mortgage lending needs of customers throughout the Southeast.

ALIANT Mortgage provides a wide variety of mortgage programs to their customers, including Conventional, FHA, VA, and various ARM products as well as construction loans.
